Aerial photography and its use in
understanding prehistoric sites


Although slow and patient processes such as on-the-ground digging and field-walking are still critical elements of archaeological investigation and evaluation, the advent of aerial-photography has increased the pace and broadened the horizons of archaeological exploration. Aerial photography is now the single most important technique for the discovery of archaeological sites and also one of the most important for their recording and analysis.
